What's happening? Here's what I'm up to over the next couple of months.

Time to Take Off

Just a few days ago, I picked up a DJI Phantom 2 Vision quadcopter from a guy here in the city. I always thought aerial shots add an interesting dimension to photography, because normally you don't see things from the air. Buying a large and expensive (duh!) helicopter that could carry my 5D Mark II (talk about risk here!) wasn't in the cards, so when DJI came out with the Vision copter, I knew my time as an aerial photographer has come. My plan is to shoot 360 panoramas from the air, as if you're sitting in the sky. But first a tiny bit of training...

Oh, SmugMug folks, if you're reading this, please support the HTML or JS output from PTGui so I can show 360 panoramas on the site. Or add your own 360 viewer component. Thanks.

ElbJazz Festival

On May 23 and 24, I'll be covering the ElbJazz Festival in Hamburg. Being a musician myself, I'm excited to be shooting (photographically speaking!) Gregory Porter, Dianne Reeves, Hugh Masekela, Rebekka Bakken, and many more. Two full days and nights of jazz and photography in my hometown. Can't beat that.

June 2014

San Francisco

I'll be returning to my old stomping grounds in Silicon Valley for a big IBM reunion with many of my local and international friends who worked with me at Almaden. Aside from three days of partying I plan to visit many friends between Los Gatos and Marin County and obviously take the camera out every once in a while.

If you want to head out to Santa Cruz, the bridge, or the headlands, for a quick shoot, let me know.
