Urbex around Berlin
15 May 2014
I had to go to Berlin for a conference and while it would make much more sense to take the train, I decided to drive myself and stop at various places to shoot some abandoned sites, since the states of former East Germany is full of those. Now, I don't consider myself a "real" urban explorer, because breaking into buildings and trespassing isn't really my thing.
However, I was able to shoot an an abandoned fabric manufacturing site, an old train repair dock, a switchyard, and an old hospital, including an interesting encounter with a very accommodating police patrol. Turns out, as luck would have it, one of the cops was an urbex photographer himself (talk about a killer combo!) and he let me proceed taking my shots while he continued doing his rounds.
